Why are Miami SEOs not on the Tech Map?
by Ksen Go, updated March 20, 2018
As a city, Miami has been doing little to attract the tech sector. Take a look at the sunset… most of Miami’s skyline is residential. Fort Lauderdale has been somewhat able to accomplish this. (Microsoft, Magic Leap, et al)
And the much smaller number of businesses that occupy the remaining space are either: real estate, hospitality & perhaps a little finance.
Needless to say -

As an ever-improving SEO (Search Engine Optimization) freelancer & specialist, I am doing my part to enrich the city. SEO services are a delicacy in Miami. There are only a few of us. Sometimes what we do is neither fully understood or properly implemented.
[bctt tweet="Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. https://goo.gl/BMPnuF @Moz" username="ksenmarkets"]
Magical! With a few skilled tweaks, your website can learn to come out on page 1 of google for your prospects’ Google searches! This visibility increases your site’s traffic & potential conversions.
However, in truth, SEO is largely underutilized…
[bctt tweet="Nowadays, 72% of small businesses have websites. https://goo.gl/bJNcW1 @SmallBusiness.com" username="ksenmarkets"]
Although 72% of Florida small businesses run a website, most will naively assume that simply building a site guarantees them online visibility.
Not so.
3 website myths that Miami businesses still believe:
Myth 1: A Beautiful Website = Great Website

We see YouTube & Facebook Wix ads offering to create “your own beautiful website!”. As if that is all that took…
Beautiful images & buttons do NOT guarantee success of your site.
Planning to spend money on “modernizing” your website? Be careful. There are many more factors involved than just aesthetics & UX to get your site to rank. In fact,
[bctt tweet="Many website redesigns result in a drop of traffic, simply because SEO functionality gets ignored in the process." username="ksenmarkets"]
Some of this functionality includes: content, optimized meta descriptions, permalinks, redirects, H1s, H2s & proper keyword strategy.
Myth 2: Websites automatically generate traffic over time.
Sorry, No. There are many factors that influence your website’s ranking. Alas, age of site is not a strong one. Some factors that do influence your ranking are: branding, UX, content quality, sharing, keywords used, additional on-page resources & external links. These are the things you will be paying for when hiring a Miami SEO services company.
Myth 3: As long as I have content - my website will rank.
Nope. As we all know, Quantity ≠ Quality. So, hiring a $10 India content writer will NOT do the job. If your website doesn’t have a cohesive theme - you are in trouble. In addition to having relevant, high Flesch reading score, copy, your website must have high user engagement. That is, shares, likes, comments. In addition to that you have to make sure others link to your site (backlinks). And That you link to other useful resources. Yep, nowadays, there really isn't a shortcut. In order to get on page 1 of Google, you need to be very familiar with how search engines rank websites.
This is where the job of an SEO comes in.
What we do can be described by Bryan Mills in Taken (2008):
[bctt tweet="I don't know who you are. I have not seen you on page 1 of Google… If you're looking for “a beautiful website”, I can tell you that will not get you on page 1… @TakenMovies #SEO @WordpressSEO" username="ksenmarkets"]
[bctt tweet="… but what I do have are a very particular set of SEO skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me an nightmare for your competitors. @TakenMovies #SEO @WordpressSEO" username="ksenmarkets"]
Well, the quote many not be 100% accurate…
We the SEOs will tweak your website’s on-page, off page, & technical areas that naturally help Google search engines find you. No dirty tricks, just white hat Miami SEO services that many of you naturally overlook.
So while Miami contends to be a “tech city,” we the SEOs will keep preaching our song.
